Ok I’m not sure if it’s a smart idea linking to illustrators who a clearly way better than me in my blog on a site trying to get people to hire me but here goes…
These Illustrators have greatly inspired me and I like to check in ton there sites regularly.
Evan Hecox
Evan Hecox’ work epitomises to of my favourite things. Skateboarding and Art. His simply sublime renderings of everyday locations and suburban scenes always stop me in my tracks and always have. the thing that strikes me most about his deceptively simple images, is there seeming ability to abstract into bold blocks of colour and shape. Undeniable a skateboarding graphic icon. I’m a humbled person when I look at his work.
Noah Bradley
Noah Bradley’s work has encouraged me greatly to pursue digital painting. I’ve learnt a lot from watching his online demonstrations and downloading his videos on illustration and freelancing. Noah has a keen love for traditional landscapes and I really dig the way the influences that shine through in his work aren’t his contemporaries but rather masters from a golden age of illustration and landscape painting. The mix of that with his sci fi and fantasy subjects is really quite striking.
James Jean
Ok so James Jean was an illustrator but I think now his focus is fine art. But hey, it’s a pretty blurry line if you ask me. Whatever the label, JJ is immaculate in his depiction of surreal and haunting women and creeping organic matter. His universe is both bleak and magnetic. I love to watch but I wouldn’t want to stay too long. Nevertheless, the way he handles intricate linework and juxtaposes it with bold colours has made him a well know staple of art directors and illustrators world wide.
Matthew Woodson
Matthew Woodson makes pictures that make me want to go live in the woods and smoke a pipe for a few years. Then I feel like after having spent all that time drawing my surrounds I might have an eye for the natural environment half as good as his.
Sam Webber
Sam Webber of all of these illustrators does the most amazing job of telling a fragment of a story. His unique, beautiful rendered traditional and digital montages grab me by the eyeballs. the realism grabs hold of your imagination but the unearthed mystery evokes a desire to look further. Exceptional work.
