The Brief:
Design and illustrate work for boutique Brisbane Wine distributer Bouchon Wines.
Bouchon frequently release wine for supply in Brisbane’s prestige local bars, cafe’s and restaurants. They contacted us as they were looking for a distinctively handcrafted & painted wine label design for a new release.
The wine was a Quintessential Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc Semillon and a Cabernet Merlot, clean crisp and refreshing, made by Ed Tomlinson. The following text was provided as inspiration.
As the door opened, I noticed two things straight up; The Empty Bottle and the tall smoking blonde, but not necessarily in that order…
The Process: Graphic Design and Illustration
In order to reinforce the boutique nature of the brand we applied a distinctive and handrawn approach to the graphic design process. In short we had fun painting and drawing! A few of the iterations of the illustration work have been included to give an example of the process.
The Solution: Boutique design with illustrative feel
The final label takes on a noirish crime paperback using a unique hand drawn typeface with a subtle handpainted and distressed feel. We printed the product incorporating a deckled edge to give it a home made and limited edition feel but polished it up by adding a beautiful, thick varnish to the distressed logo.
